The lights are low. The music is soft. Ah, this yoga class is just the calming, grounding break you need from your hectic week…
…Until you fall out of tree pose. No, your mental quiet will not be disturbed by this stumble! So you put your foot back on your leg…
…And you fall out of the pose again. How frustrating! (And now you’re annoyed—the exact opposite of the state you’re seeking from your yoga practice!)
“Why can’t I balance in yoga?”
That’s what you’re wondering, right? How, oh how, do you improve your balance in yoga?
This workshop will break down the elements of balance and introduce you to creative exercises to improve your balance. You’ll:
🔹 Learn games (yes, they’re fun!) to target balancing components. These are more effective than simply trying to stand on one foot over and over. (PS: training static balance, which is what we do in yoga, is kinda useless in the real world, where we seldom use static balance.)
🔹 Discover which body areas are most responsible for navigating balance (PS: it’s not your core) so that you can more efficiently improve your balance.
🔹 Find out which 3 body systems organize balance and how to prime them so you’ll have tools beyond stepping off your mat or fixing your gaze to balance. (PS: both these strategies make balance easier in the moment, but we’ll actually do the OPPOSITE to train balance long-term.)
If you’re frustrated by balancing poses—or if you’re working with students who are—this workshop is for you.
I can’t promise that you’ll never again fall out of tree pose, but you’ll learn tools to train balance so that you can feel more steady and confident practicing these common yoga poses.
Teachers, you'll learn activities--lots and lots of really effective and novel ones--that you can use to help students who struggle with balance. These can be incorporated into regular group classes or used during privates.
You’ll automatically receive a 14-day replay, so no worries if the time slot doesn’t suit your schedule!
