Urdhva dhanurasana (upward bow, AKA “wheel”) and pincha mayurasana (forearm stand) challenge many practitioners because they require both upper body mobility and upper body strength. In this workshop we’ll examine the anatomy of the shoulder and the wrist, then apply those lessons with fun, out-of-the-boxana upper body strengtheners and mobilizers. (P.S.: I’m recovering from a broken wrist, so I’m ready to share PT wrist exercises galore.) Finally, we’ll learn some ways to modify these two poses to address various wrist and shoulder difficulties. This workshop will be illuminating for students and teachers alike. You’ll deepen your awareness of human physiology, learn new approaches to these poses, and gain a host of weird and wonderful preparatory practices. Come learn and explore!
