For teachers and interested students
This 30-hour anatomy and asana course will deepen your understanding of body mechanics during yoga practice. It will reinforce and supplement the fundamental anatomy covered in most 200-hour teacher trainings—but you needn’t enter the program with prior anatomy instruction. All curious movers are welcome! Yoga students will glean an enhanced comprehension of the body that they can use to inform their personal practice. Teachers will hone their observation skills and their understanding of anatomical variations and how to modify postures to suit individual needs.
We will meet for three hours each morning and for three hours each afternoon, with a ninety-minute lunch break in between. During our sessions we’ll explore movement activities to illustrate and complement the anatomy we’re studying—so prepare to move! We’ll apply the anatomy lessons to classic yoga asana, so the coursework will inform your yoga practice in direct, practical ways.
