Upside Down from the Inside Out: Shoulder Anatomy, Down Dog Clinic, and Inversions (Saigon)

Learn about the anatomy of the shoulder, refine your down dog, then apply your new awareness to some exhilarating inversions.

It’s hard to organize the shoulder girdle in down dog because we can’t see our shoulders while we’re in the pose! A clear comprehension of shoulder anatomy will help you properly align your shoulder blades and arms in adho mukha svansasana. That alignment is fundamental to inverting safely and easefully. So after we thoroughly explore yoga’s most basic inverted posture, we’ll advance on to the more challenging ones—handstand, forearm stand, and headstand.

Come learn, fine-tune your practice, and gain tips you can share with your students.
